We hope you enjoy this month's offerings from TVO. Thank you for your support which makes it all possible!

Monday March 22 is World Water Day. In honour of the day, TVO will air a week of water-themed programming featuring the world premiere of the Canadian documentary Water on the Table Wednesday March 24 (repeated Sunday March 28).

Who better to champion against the privatization of water than Canadian author and activist Maude Barlow, who has earned the moniker of "water warrior"?

International Women's Day falls on March 8 and throughout the month TVO celebrates some of history's most fascinating and courageous women whose impact is still felt today. Mrs Mandela, airing on Sunday March 7 is an engrossing biopic that contemplates the legacy of Winnie Mandela, one of the most controversial women in recent history, and Mo airing on Sunday March 21 is a touching portrait of one of Britain's most popular political figures, Marjorie "Mo" Mowlam, whose extraordinary achievements included the signing of the historic Good Friday Peace Agreement in 1998, a major development in the Northern Ireland peace process.

And The Agenda on the Road's "Reinventing Ontario" tour will be in Timmins for the final stop of its three-city tour of the province. The two-day, interactive event will feature a daylong workshop called AgendaCamp (Sunday March 21), which brings community leaders, policy makers, members of the public, and anchor/senior editor Steve Paikin together to discuss and problem-solve around major issues, challenges and opportunities facing northern Ontario today. Participants and AgendaCamp discussions will also help determine the subject for the live broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin on Monday March 22 at 8 pm.

In corporate news, TVO's CEO Lisa de Wilde delivered a powerful address to the Economic Club of Canada on February 3, highlighting the dramatic impact that public television in Ontario is making in the world of multiplatform digital media. Stating that "TVO today is the thinking man's, woman's and child's network - one of the few anywhere," Lisa focused on the importance of TVO's made-in-Ontario perspective, its educational commitment to kids and parents, and why the need for viewers to "Go Public" with their donations has never been more crucial to TVO's innovative citizen engagement strategy. You can watch Lisa's full Economic Club talk by following this link.

Also this month, our new Go Public television spots are now available on TVO's YouTube channel. We are very excited about these video testimonials that put the spotlight on viewers like you.

Have a fantastic month.

The Donations Team
"I went public in 1997. And recently I attended the London AgendaCamp and live broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin. The camp itself really was a mecca for thoughtful, passionate people. These days, with so much darkness in the world, it was like a shaft of light.

I can't imagine the stress and demands that this kind of show must cause, but what TVO is doing is important and making a difference. Edward R. Murrow would be pleased with this use of the medium.

Public television, and specifically TVO, may have restored my faith in humanity -or at least caused a monumental shift. It is after all a herculean task."

Yours sincerely,

Mike Farlow
